Simpson and Wentz exchange vows in intimate Los Angeles ceremony

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Today) 5/18/08 – They may have been engaged in Colorado, but solo singer Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy frontman Pete Wentz married in Los Angeles Saturday at the home of Simpson’s parents, People reported.  Luminaries in attendance included Donald Faison, Joel Madden, Nicole Ritchie and Tony Romo.

Joe Simpson, father of the bride and a former Baptist minister, wed the musical pair, with older sister Jessica standing by as maid of honor.  As 150 guests looked on, the youngest Simpson took her vows in a Monique Lhuillier wedding dress.

The reception carried on the “Alice in Wonderland” theme begun by the bride’s recent music video, “Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya),” in which Simpson appeared as the Mad Hatter atop a surrealistic desert landscape.  A stopwatch, teapot, top hat and other regalia topped the Lewis-Carroll-inspired designer cake at the intimate dinner following the ceremony.

Simpson, 23, and Wentz, 28, purportedly began dating in 2006.  Simpson announced their engagement to MTV viewers on April 9, 2008, when she appeared on the cable network’s “Total Request Live.”  Quoting an anonymous source, “In Touch” reported that Wentz had popped the question at his brother’s art exhibit in Colorado and that Simpson immediately and happily accepted.

Simpson began her career as an actress, but became a household name by starring in her own MTV reality show chronicling the making of her first album and her efforts to promote it.  Wentz is the lead singer and bass guitarist for his band, Fall Out Boy, which was named after a reference to the animated series “The Simpsons” suggested by a concertgoer.
