Lindsay Lohan follows in Britney Spears’ footsteps with network guest shot

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 5/4/08 – Network guest shots seem to be all the rage with troubled celebrities, these days. Lindsay Lohan is following in fellow entertainer Britney Spears’ footsteps by appearing in the season finale of ABC hit “Ugly Betty,” as well as five episodes next season.
Lohan began shooting the finale—which will air on Thursday, May 22—on Saturday and is scheduled to play an old friend of the title character (America Ferrera). The start of filming came just one day after one of the actress’ police mugshots was used in a political ad published in “USA Today” by a liquor industry advocacy group.
Lohan has not commented on assumptions by the media that the “Ugly Betty” appearance is an attempt to rejuvenate her image, which was tarnished by multiple trips to rehab, as well as two arrests related to alleged drunk driving and drug possession, in 2007.
On March 24, Spears appeared on CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” to rave reviews and recently filmed a follow-up episode, which will air on Monday, May 12. Before the episode aired, Spears had been fighting negative publicity related to her erratic behavior and hospitalizations, which led to her father being named co-conservator of her estate.
