Photog allegedly provided cocaine to Ledger to film late actor

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Today) 4/12/08 – Paparazzi are known for employing extreme tactics to capture valuable footage of celebrities, but a former freelancer for People magazine is accusing two past associates of sinking to a new low. She is suing the pair’s agency, claiming it paid for illegal drugs given to Heath Ledger in an attempt to gather incriminating video of the late actor.
According to the female reporter, who is listed anonymously in court documents, Splash News & Picture Agency picked up the tab for a supply of cocaine, which two of its employees allegedly partook in with Ledger the night of Jan. 29, 2006 in her hotel room at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont. While the two cameramen weren’t able to film the “Brokeback Mountain” star actually taking the drugs, they did capture him on camera discussing prior use of marijuana, and that footage was widely distributed following Ledger’s death two years later.
The lawsuit specifically accuses the company of fraud and invasion of privacy, alleging that the woman was not made aware of the plan to offer drugs to Ledger in order to secretly tape him and that she was taken advantage of by the two paparazzi, one of whom was her boyfriend at the time. It also asks the court to invoke a state law, which prohibits celebrity photographers from making money off material obtained through an illegal act.
The entertainment community was shocked on Jan. 22, 2008, when Ledger was found dead in his Manhattan apartment of what was later ruled an accidental prescription drug overdose. His penultimate film, “The Dark Knight,” in which he plays Batman nemesis the Joker, is scheduled for U.S. release on July 18.

Those scienos are behind this for sure. I don’t believe ANYTHING that comes out of their camps these days. It’s usually someone else LYING FOR THEM.

Awesome info! I was honestly just thinking about something similar to this the other day so, it was almost “weird” when I ran across this.
