HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 3/11/08 — “Ice Ice Baby ” reality-star/ rapper Vanilla Ice was arrested and booked into Florida’s Palm Beach County jail Thursday night on charges of domestic battery after his wife reportedly called deputies to say her husband was allegedly beating and kicking her again.
He remains in custody at press time.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department said the rapper, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, was booked on domestic battery charges Thursday night.
The rapper, more recently a reality star, in shows including “The Surreal Life,” was due in court Friday, according to a report in the Palm Beach Post.
Deputies arrived at their Wellington home around 7:15 p.m. to find the 40-year-old star, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, on his motorcycle, two blocks from their home.
” Ice Ice baby” (a directly ripped sample from Queen/Bowies “Under Pressure” ) was the rappers only hit. Sources for Queen and Bowie have not commented as yet but rumours abound of the monies paid to back them off from a very enforceable suit for the rip of the famous classic tune.
