Elton bene concert brings interesting new comments from candidate that may not endear her with Bible-belt voters

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 3/11/08 — Hillary, Chelsea and Bill Clinton were greeted like rock stars as they joined Elton John last night at Radio City Music Hall for “Elton and Hillary: One Night Only.”

Speaking at the fundraiser, presidential candidate Hillary surprised many and claimed she has two celebrity cousins, saying a genealogist pegged her as tenth cousins to Angelina Jolie.

“And Madonna too,” Hillary smiled. “Hello, isn’t this a good piece of news? I mean I am thrilled to be related to Madonna and Angelina Jolie. I have no idea whether there is any truth to it or not, but they’re both strong independent women. They also have been very quick to give back to charities and humanitarian causes, so it would be an honor to be related to them.”

It is not usually helpful in a campaign to note ties to women with belly-button rings and tats, as much as we like them here. We shall see what the polls exhibit, especially in the Bible-belt states.

Elton hosted the fundraiser in New York City last night for Clinton and there was a candid moment to catch Hillary defending daughter Chelsea who is being bombarded by Monica Lewinsky questions.

“I think she has been very genuine and straight forward,” Hillary said of the way Chelsea has handled the situation. “She says no or she says yes, whatever, she believes is right.”

She may be a senator, but Hillary is a proud mom when it comes to Chelsea. Chelsea recently shot down questions about her father’s infidelity by telling people it was none of their business.

“I think she has done very well,” Hillary said.
