Spitzer replacement previously admitted to marital infidelity

NEW YORK (Hollywood Today) 3/24/08 – New York’s soap opera of gubernatorial scandals just won’t stop. Nascent New York Gov. David Paterson wants to be completely honest with his constituency, but his latest admission may be putting him in the compromising position it was designed to help him avoid. Following last week’s announcement by Paterson that he and his wife both engaged in extramarital affairs, the governor announced Monday that he used both cocaine and marijuana as a young man.

Paterson made the confession to local cable news network NY1, telling an interviewer he used marijuana at about the age of 20 and cocaine later in his early 20s, but making it clear he hadn’t used either since. This is his second on-camera admission to drug use, the first occurring in 2006.

The 53-year-old politician has been divulging his indiscretions to the media to avoid a career-ruining scandal like that of his predecessor, Eliot Spitzer, who resigned last Monday amidst allegations he had paid sexual relations with several call girls. Though Paterson’s admission to marital infidelity was well received, it is unclear if his admission to drug use will serve to tarnish his administration or further legitimize it.

It’s about time we got honesty from our politicians. Kudos to Mr. Patterson!

He is yet another successful person who have dabbled in drugs. Isn’t alcohol also a mood-altering substance?

Paterson isn’t running for office, so there’s no need for all these soulful outpourings of previous ‘bad’ deeds. Who’s running the state while he uses the press corps as his personal shrink?
TIME TO MOVE ON AND DO YOUR JOB, DAVE.

An honest politician? My god, the world will end soon. Now if we could just keep them from being hypocrites. Stop enacting laws against things they’ve done themselves. Morality is not the business of the government. Ain’t nobody’s business but my own.

Believe it or not, there are people out here that have never used drugs and never plan to use them. I knew enough not to eat rat poison and it only hurts one person. It’s easy to say “no” to drugs but those who use it want others to believe “everyone does it”….thereby making it politically correct and acceptable. What a crock.

No! Paterson is not an honest politican. He is just doing “damage control” before all this crap comes out at a later date.

Paterson is just another egomaniac with the morals of a dog, a common characteristic with liberals, regardless of their party affiliation.
