“Dog the Bounty Hunter” gets a second chance after pleading with Net after they booted him over racial slurs
By Stacey Silberman

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 2/20/08 – Honolulu based bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman has received amnesty from A&E after the network pulled his reality TV show off the air following his use of a nasty racial slur toward his son’s then African American girlfriend three months ago.
“Dog,” 55, let his temper get the best of him during a big blowout fight with his son, which centered on the fact that he disliked his girlfriend at the time, in which he used the racially unacceptable term “nigger” while referring to the girl.
As it turned out, his son Tucker had recorded the private conversation, which he sold to the National Enquirer for about $15,000. HIs wife defended him, but the real keys to A&E putting him back on air were ratings and the fact that the Mexican government changed course and decided not to charge him with kidnapping after the nabbed a high-profile bail-jumper south of the border.
Chapman admitted that he used the slur during the argument with his son, but said that he used the term out of anger and that he’s really not a racist.
The bounty hunter apologized profusely on television, on the Internet, in the newspapers and made a huge effort to rectify his wrongdoings.
“Over the last few months, Duane “Dog” Chapman has taken and continues to take the appropriate steps in reaching out to several African American organizations in an effort to make amends for his private comments to his son which were released publicly,” said an A&E statement. “Since the premise of “Dog the Bounty Hunter” is about second chances – we have decided to give one to him.”
The “Dog” made a name for himself after he tracked and captured Max Factor heir Andrew Luster. Luster escaped to Mexico after he was charged with serial rape in 2003.
Chapman is now married to his partner in bounty hunting Beth and has a grand total of 12 children from five different marriages.
The “Dog’s” reality show is broadcast to viewers in over 10 countries around the world.a

I think we’d all be in a world of s*** if someone recorded our private conversations. None of us are better than Dog, so stop pointing your finger at him. His son is a piece of trash though. Selling out your dad for $15K?

Give the guy his job, and stay out of his personal family business. His son is a real work of art, takeing the food out of his fathers mouth.

I think he makes enough money without the BS show. But private comments in family argument should stay there. Let his son go get a real job.

So happy that this is finally settled! What happened between Dog and his son was a family issue, Tucker should not have sold his family out for a measly $15,000 (which is probably gone alrady) over a family argument. The media made way more of this than should have been made! I am sure that we all have said (or done) things in our lives that we are not proud of or wish we could take back! Welcome back Dog you’ve been missed!!

Black recording artist, comedians and blacks in general use the “term” all the time, and say much worst about whites, in the same ways.but let a white man say the “term” in so much as in private..and crap like this happens with reactions. The time has come in America for blacks to get over things in “OUR” past…blacks in in many positions of money and power today. One of us (yes am black) is running for President. It’s time to move on and leave our past.
“YES, WE CAN !”

Yeah he’s low rent and 12 kids by 5 different women. No wonder his son is screwed up.

Awesome! It’s a shame his son sold him out. Dog sets a good example and while his private comment were disappointing, I’m glad to hear that he did the right thing by admitting his mistake and reaching out to those who he hurt. Way to go Dog, and cheers to A&E for having the brass to put him back on the air.

It’s great that The Dog will soon be back on A & E soon. His suspension was nothing more than a bunch of PCBS to satisfy a bunch of hypersensitive ethnic hustlers begin with. Now let’s get Imus back on MSNBC, eh?
