Lindsay Lohan collaborates with original photographer to recreate famous Marilyn Monroe pose for New York Magazine

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 2/18/08 — The iconic images of Marilyn Monroe still capture the attention and imagination as they did about 50 years ago. For instance, the late actress standing above the steam grate, her dress aflutter, has spawned many imitators. Lindsay Lohan has taken her admiration a step further, however, posing nude in the spring fashion issue of “New York Magazine.”
“I was comfortable with it,” Lohan told People magazine when asked about the explicit scene.
The photo, featuring the 21-year-old actress on top of white sheets and donning Monroe’s trademark blonde locks, is a recreation of the original 1962 photo taken by photographer Bert Stern, who also worked with Lohan on the recent shoot.
The original was part of a 2,500-picture collection commissioned by “Vogue” and taken by Stern six weeks before the 36-year-old Monroe’s mysterious and controversial death of a drug overdose.
When asked if any parallels could be drawn between her frequent trips to rehab centers in 2007 and the untimely deaths of Monroe and 28-year-old actor Heath Ledger, Lohan dismissed any connection. “I don’t know. I’m not them, but I sure as hell wouldn’t let it happen to me,” though she did state that the deaths of Monroe and Ledger were “both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone.”
Lohan is best known for her starring roles in movies, such as “Mean Girls,” “Herbie: Fully Loaded” and “A Prairie Home Companion.” She is currently shooting the musical “Dare to Love Me.”

First..Where do these hollywood casting agents FIND these people?
Sorry but in my opinion Lohan has very little acting ability, and her looks remind me of some of the women I see in my pawn shop that are looking to pawn their engagement ring for a hit.

Marilyn Monroe had sex appeal without even trying…Lohan tries and fails miserably.

Lohan is a very good actress, but she shouldn’t be comparing herself to the imcomparable Monroe. She is just setting herself up for failure which may lead her back into rehab.

Well this is quite pathetic. Those wigs are just so trashy. Even I might look better than Lindsay. Monroe did actually have beauty, but she was was weak and ended up just being a loser. If Lindsay wanted to be a star, she would stand on her own merits, if she has any. Why do women try to emulate past movie stars? You will never be like them, you can’t be them, only they are themselves, and only you can be yourself. Only losers try to be something that they are not, and in the process forsake themselves.

Most of your comments are ridicules. To begin with I would bet more than half of you only know Marilyn from what you read in Playboy. Marilyn wasn’t that great of an actress herself, but because she was willing to push the erotic envelope a little further than most actresses in her day she was granted 15 minutes of fame, which she handled about as well as Lohan, Spears, Paris and the countless other celebs that crash and burn. Regardless of what you think about her, posing nude provided what she sought. You’re all talking about her. You’ll probably buy the magazine, and enjoy the photos for what they are; Pictures of a young lady with a nice body.
