TV host Craig Ferguson says he scored 100% on his United States citizenship exam and that he will be sworn in quite soon

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 1/29/08 – Scottish-born funnyman Craig Ferguson, of the CBS David Letterman owned “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” passed his United States citizenship exam on Jan. 25 in Los Angeles and is scheduled to be sworn in as an actual U.S. citizen a few weeks from now.

Ferguson announced Monday that he tested with a perfect score, because he’s really smart, of course. “All of you people born here, if you had to take that test – well, Canada would be building a fence right now,” said the “honorary citizen” on his show Monday night.

Ferguson started a trend last June after receiving a letter from the Ozark, Ark. Mayor, which bestowed the honorary title after he plugged the town’s offerings of catfish. After that, Ferguson began a tirade of a crusade to obtain additional honorary titles from around the country, which added up to about 16,109 nationwide, according to the Associated Press.

Ferguson’s wit and humor has seemingly touched the hearts of Americans, as one can see from his numerous honorary titles. Perhaps it’s his little trademark smirk that sucks one in. And it’s great to have him join our team as a fellow American.

The question is, will he get sworn in soon enough to participate in the upcoming presidential election? And if so, which party and which candidate will the new American support?

Accordingly, he’s already poking fun at Lame Duck President George W. Bush after the delivery of his final State of the Union address, saying it “was like a farewell, special edition of ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5^th Grader?’”

Now that’s the spirit of a true 2008 American. Welcome to the club Craig.
