Grammy-winning Rapper Eminem was reportedly hospitalized during the holidays for pneumonia

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 1/8/08—Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, was rushed to a hospital this holiday season for a severe case of pneumonia. The Detroit-native is also reportedly battling a serious heart condition, according to the Detroit Free Press

“Eminem was under doctor’s care at a Detroit-area hospital for complications due to pneumonia,” said the rapper’s publicist, Dennis Dennehy on Tuesday. “He has since been released and is doing well recovering at home.”

Dennehy did not comment on Eminem’s suspected heart condition.

During this recovery period it may be befitting that “Slim Shady” be referred to as “Slim Sicky” until he’s well back on his feet.

According to TMZ, Eminem weighed in the New Year at 200 pounds—a size that significantly larger than his usual lean frame, which could suggest reason for his suspected heart condition.

He explained the cause of his weight gain in a 2006 interview with Complex Magazine. “I went through a little slacking phase,” he said, “but I just got back into my regimen last week. So, I eat some nachos, and drink a Mountain Dew, and then I go hit the gym,” said Eminem.

The 35-year-old hip-hop artist has won Grammy’s for best rap album and best rap solo performance three times. In 2003, he won an Oscar for “Lose yourself” the theme song to the movie, “8 Mile” in which the rapper made his acting debut.

He is currently working on a new album with long time producing pal Dr. Dre and it is expected to drop later this year.
