Victoria Beckham, who considers herself a fashion-plate, named Worst Dressed of Year, grunge rock Winehouse 2nd

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 1/8/08 – Spice Girl and soccer-star wife Victoria “Posh” Beckham, spends a bloody fortune to stay ahead of the fashion trends, but Mr. Blackwell thinks she’s a stylistic mess and gave her the number one spot on his worst-dressed list for 2007. “In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty “Posh” can really wreck ‘em,” said the infamous fashion critic.

Beckham is currently on a reunion tour with her group known as the Spice Girls and has been known for her radical fashion tastes, poses and sulky expressions. Even the name Posh was given to her as she was supposedly the fashionista of the group.

The Beckham family moved last year from Spain to Beverly Hills, CA after soccer star husband David Beckham signed-on with the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team. But Posh was not alone on the dreaded fashion faux pas annual list.

Mr. Blackwell has been making his list and checking it twice for 48 years now. His career began in the early 1950s while he had a clothing line of his own, which lasted for 35 years and dressed old Hollywood stars like Jayne Mansfield, Peggy Lee and Jane Russell. But, the list has kept Mr. Blackwell in the fashion limelight, year after year, making him the chief of the fashion police.

In second place, for worst-dressed celebrity icon, is singer Amy Winehouse. Winehouse is known for her numerous tattoos, over-done make-up, beehive hair-do and her various mini-skirts. However, here Blackwell misses the point. She is a grunge-rocker with street cred at stake, who would lose her fan base and identity in an instant if she took to designer garb.

Third place goes to twin and former child star Mary-Kate Olsen, who has a very unique style of her own, referred to as Boho. Blackwell had an opinion about her too saying “She resembles a tattered toothpick trapped in a hurricane.”

Blackwell emphasized that this year’s list stood out as one of the “most disastrous fashion years in recent memory.”

As far as Blackwell is concerned, musicians stood out as the worst dressed in show business, with a majority of his picks coming from the pop star category. Fergie came in at number four, Kelly Clarkson fifth, Eva Green sixth, Avril Lavigne seventh, Jessica Simpson eighth, Lindsay Lohan ninth and Alison Arngrim came in at number ten.

However, Mr. Blackwell did applaud some of the better-dressed stars as well, including diva Barbara Streisand, the elegant Elizabeth Taylor, singing super-star Madonna and most surprisingly the Queen of England, who Blackwell said, “managed to update her Stonehenge of Style image.”
