RAMALLAH, West Bank (Hollywood Today) 10/8/07 – Bryan Adams will kick-off a concert series calling for peace in the Mideast next week with performances in the West Bank and Israel. Residents of London, Ottawa, and Washington, D.C. can see the shows via satellite.
In conjunction with the New York-based One Voice peace movement, Adams hopes to help the organization achieve its goal of collecting one million signatures from Israelis and Palestinians in demand of a peace accord.
Fathi Darwish, head of One Voice’s Ramallah office, said Adams will start the evening with a set in the West Bank town of Jericho and then head to Tel Aviv.
“Our goal is to send a message to the world, that the Palestinian people love life, and hope for life and liberation,” Darwish told the Associated Press.
Best known for his Academy Award nominated song “Everything I Do,” Adams, 47, joins a long line of fellow celebrity endorsements of One Voice, including Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, and Natalie Portman. Some Hollywood celebrities associated with the movement will relay videolink messages to the events.
Although the concerts are free, attendees will have to sign the One Voice petition to gain entrance to the venues, according to the organization’s website.
