Snoop, family and whole Dogghouse to be the subject of TV show on E!

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 7/17/07 — Snoop Dogg‘s home and work lives will be on display in a new reality series, E! Entertainment Television said Friday. The series, scheduled to debut in late 2007 and described by the cable channel as “hilarious and heartwarming,” will show the hip-hop heavyweight trying to balance his different worlds.
The 35-year-old star, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has three sons and runs a youth football league.
But he has also had several run-ins with the law, is on probation for drug and weapons convictions, and was refused entry to the UK and Australia earlier this year.
He was forced to cancel concert dates in the U.K. with fellow rap star P Diddy in March after he was refused a visa.
“The juggling act that Snoop faces day-in, day-out between career and family is certain to resonate with our viewers,” said Ted Harbert, president and CEO of Comcast Entertainment Group, which operates the E! channel.
Snoop is a famed and unapologetic pot smoker, though he said he has not been smoking marijuana lately at request of his children. But with pot farmers the subject of another cable show (“Weeds”), the subject is not taboo and all potheads are not villains. So when the smoke clears, all that matters is is if the mellow fellow and family is interesting enough to keep America’s attention.
