Former 007 will take on his first singing role
London, UK (Hollywood Today) 3/08/07 – In a world where anything can and will happen, former Bond star Pierce Brosnan will unveil his singing voice on screen in the film adaptation of the long running and wildly popular Broadway musical “Mamma Mia.” Although Brosnan belted out a few pub songs in 2002′s “Evelyn,” “Mamma Mia” will be Brosnan’s first musical feature film. The story of a bride-to-be trying to find the identity of her father unfolds to a soundtrack of hit songs from Swedish pop group ABBA.

Brosnan will play one of the possible fathers while Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep will star as the mother.
“Pierce brings a certain smooch factor, and we think he’ll have great chemistry with Meryl in a romantic comedy,” producer Judy Craymer told the BBC.
The film, which will be shot on location in Greece, is set for release in November 2008. The stage production, which opened in London in 1999, has grossed more than $2 billion in worldwide ticket sales, making it one of the most successful musicals of all time.
